We've taken the last steps and can report that by the end of the month our packaging will be totally plastic free!

It been a salty salty year!

As 2017 wraps up I'm left to look back over a year that changed everything for us. While we started Tidal Salt in 2016, it was this year where our little business really got moving!

Interestingly enough I was in the middle of a batch of salt as the clock struck midnight and 2017 got started. I will likely be doing the same thing tomorrow night when 2017 comes to and end.

Over the past year we began selling our product at farmer's markets here in Nova Scotia, most notably the Halifax Seaport Farmer's Market and the Alderney Farmer's Market. We participated in Canada 150 celebrations at the Seaport on Canada Day. We made a number of charitable donations to groups such as the Nova Scotia Nature Trust and the 2017 Andyvent Calendar.

With all of our activity we received our fair share of media attention with appearances on CTV Morning Live Atlantic and CBC News Network. We also were mentioned as the hostess gift of the season by Chatelaine, an article which ran in newspapers across Canada.

Our fleur de sel and flavoured sea salts have been shipped to all corners of North America, from Nunavut to Arizona, San Diego to Newfoundland!

We couldn't have done this without the assistance of those around us, most of all CEED. It is through their organization that we received the encouragement and knowledge necessary to get our business off the ground!

Also we got here through support from the Province of Nova Scotia. The programs offered to potential entrepreneurs are invaluable and an absolutely crucial investment in the future of our province.

All that being said, while 2017 was a great foundation year for Tidal Salt, here's to making 2018 even better!

Best wishes to our customers and supporters and we'll see all of you in the New Year!
