Last Tuesday was a rough day for Canada when we lost one of our great icons. Gord Downie was an inspiration for us from a young age and his lyrics are nothing short of true poetry. Here at Tidal Salt, we name each batch based on something significant that happened while collecting and harvesting it. New markets in old places...

I grew up in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. If you had told me ten years ago that I would setting up a market table in the same 4H barn I visited countless times in my youth, particularly with the intent to sell handmade fleur de sel, I would given you a vaguely baffled look. But that's just what happened. We made our first visit to the Antigonish Farmer's Market last Saturday, and we'll definitely be back! We were thrilled to kick off the first weekend in September by being a small part of the wedding of two special people here in Halifax. Kelly and Kert tied the knot at the Halifax Distilling Co. in Downtown Halifax a few weeks back.
